The Box : This is the area just above the stick side shoulder that is the optimal place to catch the lacrosse ball. Draw an imaginary line 12 inches out from the shoulder and 6 inches up above the head. Players passing the ball should aim for the box and players catching the ball should position themselves so the ball is received in this area.
Zero : Term used to instruct the defense to lock off or guard closely off-ball players and to have the on-ball defenseman aggressive attempt to take the ball away.
Zone Defense : In a zone defense players are responsible for covering players in a certain area. Often used when a defense is less athletic than the offense.
